New England Tournament at Umass
for Youth (Green and Silver) and JV (Blue)

Sat. July 11 and Sunday July 12, 2009

There are two tournaments going on simultaneously at Umass this weekend.  The varsity teams (Red and White) are playing in the Mid-Summer Classic on the fields adjacent to the Mullen Center across the street from the Boyden gym.  The youth (Green and Silver) and JV team (Blue) are playing on fields near the Football Stadium.  You can walk between the two but it is a long walk.  There is a large parking lot that connects the two areas.  If you park there you can easily drive between the two.

HOTEL ACCOMODATIONS:  

Unfortunately, the definitive tournament game schedules will not come out until the week of the tournament so I cannot be certain of any start times.  I know this will make planning more difficult.  Some people have gone out on Friday night to be there for Sat. AM others have driven out on Sat AM (~2hrs drive) and stayed over Sat PM.  Others have gone home on Sat PM and driven back for Sunday.  It is your preference. 

This is a very busy weekend in the pioneer valley.  Teams come from all over for this tournament and there are other events going on in the area besides these tournaments.  Hotels are hard to come by.  Mass Elite has blocked off rooms in several hotels.  Unfortunately it was impossible to get rooms for all of the teams in one hotel and impossible to get any closer. 

There MAYBE rooms available in hotels that are closer but they were not available to be blocked off.  You may try yourself to get a hotel room closer.  Around June 1-June 10 when blocked rooms are released in the hotels would be a good time to call if you want to try and get into a closer hotel. 

Mass Elite has simply blocked off a set number of rooms at the following hotels.  The reservation and all costs are the responsibility of each family.  There are only a set number of rooms reserved at each hotel.  I suggest you call early.  The block of rooms at all hotels will be released as of June 1, 2009.  Both Friday, July 10th and Saturday, July 11th has been blocked off.  Please specify which night or both that you want.  Tell them rooms have been blocked off under MASS ELITE.   Confirm with the hotel the sleeping # and arrangements for each room before booking and smoking vs. non-smoking.  I have never been to any of these hotels and only booked them on the basis of availability.  Mass Elite does not make any guarantees as to the quality of the hotels.
